USRowing Names 29 Athletes to 2006 Junior National Team

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing has named an additional 14 men and 15 women to the 2006 Junior National Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The 29 athletes will make up the camp selected boats that will compete at the 2006 FISA World Rowing Junior Championships August 2-5 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Those boats include the women’s pair, women’s four, men’s four with coxswain, women’s eight, and men’s eight. Final lineups will be announced later in July.

The men were selected from a group of 44 rowers that attended the junior men’s national team selection camp, while the women were selected from a group of 31 rowers that attended the junior women’s national team selection camp. The women’s roster includes six returning team members, while the men’s roster includes two.

Six boats – the men’s and women’s single sculls, men’s and women’s double sculls, and men’s and women’s quadruple sculls – had already earned 2006 Junior National Team berths at the 2006 Junior National Team Trials in late June.
