NA Indoor Rowing Event Draws Record Number of Competitors

Saturday, March 3, 2007

Fourteen Western Pennsylvania high school rowing teams converged on Marshall Middle School for the

8th Annual North Allegheny Indoor Rowing High School Championships on Saturday, March 3.  In total, 277

young athletes took part in the simulated 2000-meter rowing races, which set a new record for the event.

NA’s own Tiger Rowers brought home a total of 18 medals – 5 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze.  They also captured

10 other 4th through 6th place finishes.  NA swept all three medals in the Women’s Novice event.

The top 6 finishers in each event earned points toward team trophies.  NA took the award for top women’s team

with a score of 98 points to runner-up Pine-Richland’s 41.  NA’s men finished with 69 points, 7 ahead of second-

place Upper St. Clair, to take the top men’s team award.  NA’s combined results earned them the top total team

trophy as well.

The Tigers will take to the water for their first spring race on April 21 at the Mercer Lake Super Sprints in Princeton,

New Jersey.
