Hello, Future Rowers! Thanks for stopping by our web site. We hope you'll consider giving us a try. You may not yet realize that rowing can be so much fun, but being on the water is awesome. We work hard but the benefits are great. The trips are a lot of fun and racing is even better! Get in shape and come row with us! If you want to learn more about the sport itself, please visit the About Rowing pages. Also check out the NA Rowing FAQ to answer some more questions if you are serious about joining the team. Here are some reasons to join the NA Crew: Now is the time to discover our sport! At a very early age we all gain some experience with soccer, baseball, basketball or football. Rowing, however, is new to anyone your age. You will learn how to row with others who are learning the sport for the first time. And to keep it fair and competitive, you will race against crews with similar experience. Racing is fun and the trips are a blast! You will compete against crews from coast to coast, from Canada to Mexico. To meet that level of competition, we travel to regattas throughout the Midwest and the East Coast. Here is a list of places we go throughout the season:
Get in shape! Pound for pound, rowers are the strongest athletes on the face of the earth. Rowing is rated the #1 cross-training exercise for other sports. You will build strength and tone the arms, legs, back, abs, and heart. We also use the NA climbing wall to build leg strength and develop the upper body. Meet New Friends at Other Schools Other schools in our area share our love of the water. We meet up often and race against each other. You can't help but become friends with rowers from Fox Chapel, Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Central Catholic, Oakland Catholic, North Catholic, Schenley, Taylor Allderdice, Winchester Thurston, Hampton, Shaler, and Ellis. Experienced Coaches Our coaching staff is completely volunteer and consists of experienced coaches, most of whom have competed at the high school and college level regionally and nationally, and many of whom still compete. All of our coaches and assistant coaches are dedicated not only to the performance of the team, but to helping each rower develop to his or her potential.
