NA Rowers Rise to the Challenge of Mercer Lake
Super Sprints
Saturday, April 22, 2006
Facing relentless rain and icy winds,
the North Allegheny Rowing Team opened their spring season
at the Mercer Lake Super Sprints/ISA
Sculling Championships in Princeton, New Jersey. Over
40
teams from Pittsburgh to Boston
competed in the day-long series of sweep and sculling events. The
inclement weather caused some novice
and JV events to be cancelled completely while other small
boat events were unable to complete
their finals races. The Tigers came away with
mixed results
but captured 8 medals 2 gold,
2 silver and 4 bronze.
NAs performances were highlighted by gold medals in the Girls Octuple and the Boys' Second Novice Eight.
The Tigers will be in action next at
the Pittsburgh Scholastic Sprints. The event
will be held at Moraine
State Park on Saturday and Sunday,
May 6 & 7. Admission is free.
