NA Rowers Beat the Heat at Philadelphia Youth Regatta

Saturday, July 15, 2006

North Allegheny’s Tiger Rowers bettered the heat, humidity and tough competition from 25 top-notch Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey rowing programs to bring home 10 medals from the 2006 Philadelphia Youth Regatta.  NA swept the Girl’s Junior Singles medals and also took both the gold and silver medals in the Boy’s Junior 16 Quads. The Tigers showed promise for the future as their medal-winning boats were dominated by sophomores and freshmen.

Participating rowers were part of NA’s optional summer sculling camps for current team members.

The Philadelphia Youth Regatta, held on Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River, attracts summer rowing clubs looking for competition before this week’s USRowing National Championships in Indianapolis.  NA will be sending select boy’s boats to compete there as well.
