Its 2007 and the ladies of North
Allegheny Rowing are having another great year!
Despite thoroughly uncooperative
weather this fall that limited water practice time, the Lady Tigers trained hard and
produced impressive regatta results.
They began their fall season with
three medals and four other top 10 finishes among the 79 teams competing in Pittsburgh at The Head of
the Ohio. There they captured gold and silver in the
Womens High School Doubles and added a silver in the High School Singles.
Halloween weekend found them battling
high winds, cold temperatures and strong competition at The Speakmon Regatta in Columbus, OH. They rose to the challenge and delivered both gold
and silver medals in the Womens Open Quads and bronze medals in the Womens
Open Singles and Womens Open Doubles. All
five other varsity boats finished in the top 10. The
newest Lady Tigers made their race debut with strong finishes in the High School Novice
Fours and High School Novice Eights.
The NA novices in both the girls
and boys boats hit their stride in the final race of the fall season, the chilly
American Heritage River Fall Classic in Wyandotte, MI. The Womens
Junior Novice Eight took the gold medal and the Novice Eight Trophy while the varsity
ladies in the Womens Open Doubles turned up the heat to add another gold. All three of NAs other varsity womens
boats finished in the top 10.
Look for the Tigers to be back on the
water in April. In the meantime theyre
staying in shape and waiting for their chance to flex their muscles at the 9th
Annual North Allegheny Indoor Rowing Championships which will be held the first Saturday
of March 2007.
Youre invited to be part of the
action. You can get to know more about our
